
About SIPI
The Seed Innovation & Protection Initiative, Asia Pacific Ltd. (SIPI) is a non-profit, apolitical organization focused on advancing the protection of intellectual property rights in the vegetable seed sector across the Asia-Pacific region.

Based in Singapore, SIPI unites seed companies and key stakeholders to promote innovation, fair competition, and stronger enforcement against intellectual property infringement through collaboration, shared knowledge, and collective action.

OUR VISION
To pursue effective enforcement of Plant Breeder's Rights (PBR) as a tool to achieve food security and increase traceability in the value chain.

To combat illegal seed production and counterfeiting while protecting SIPI members' intellectual property rights

Raise Awareness
Promote training through e-learning modules and in-person sessions for stakeholders, enforcement authorities, and supply chain partners.
Fight Infringements
Develop knowledge centres, organise investigations, and maintain centralised databases to combat IP rights infringement across the vegetable seed sector.
Improve Enforcement
Map laws and enforcement structures, assist with surveys, and create protocols to help authorities improve PBR enforcement mechanisms.
Secure Supply Chain
Implement auditing schemes, extend networks, and cooperate with certification agencies to ensure traceability from seed to fruit.

OUR OBJECTIVES

Map intellectual property and seed laws, enforcement rules, and enforcement bodies across countries in the Asia-Pacific region

Provide general information on national IP laws, enforcement agencies, and experienced IP enforcement attorneys

Support and advise members in taking legal action against IP infringements

Establish best practices for intellectual property protection and enforcement across member countries

Conduct surveys on IP and seed law infringements and use findings to improve industry awareness

Act as a mediator between intellectual property rights holders and infringers when appropriate

Undertake activities incidental or conducive to achieving these objectives, without operating for profit
